Committee Structure and Membership

The College currently has the following committee structure; -

  • Audit Committee
  • Equality and Diversity Committee
  • Governors’ Management Committee
  • Health, Safety and Safeguarding Committee
  • Quality and Standards Committee
  • Remuneration Committee,
  • Search and Governance Committee.
  • Staff Affairs Committee (now replaced by the Staff Information and Consultative Committee)
  • Student Affairs Committee

The Instrument of Government require the College to set up only three committees – a Search Committee, an Audit Committee and when required a Special Committee for the dismissal of senior post holders. The Instruments further state, however, that it is good practice to set up a Remuneration Committee, Finance and Employment Committee (GMC) and Quality and Standards Committee.

Over the last five years there has been an ever-increasing importance in health and safety. The responsibilities of the College and individual managers in this area are best served by a Health and Safety Committee with governor, student and staff representation. The Committee has now taken responsibility to oversee the very important area of safeguarding.

Equal opportunities and diversity are areas where the College has become more proactive and this is best served by an Equality and Diversity Committee.

The Staff Affairs Committee and Student Affairs Committee are important areas for communication and involvement. The Staff Committee has recently changed because of legislation and is no longer an official committee of the Corporation but still maintains a governor as chair.
