Process to Appoint New
Members
The process to appoint new members to the Board of Governors of Hartpury College will be open and transparent.
1. The search Committee will arrange a Skills Audit of the current members of the Corporation to identify gaps.
2. The Search Committee will arrange for the Clerk to complete a job description and person specification of the new member required.
3. The Search Committee will take into consideration the gender and ethnic balance of the Corporation and, where appropriate, make recommendations on membership to ensure that the Corporation reflects the appropriate balance in this area.
4. The Search Committee will ensure that the membership reflects the stakeholders of the College.
5. The Corporation, through the Search Committee, whilst recognising the advice from the NOLAN Committee that members should not serve more than two consecutive terms (8 years), will take account of the skills and contribution of the retiring members and the maintenance of such skills within the Governing Body.
The Search Committee will ensure that the process of re-appointment of a governor who has already served two consecutive terms will be vigorous.
6. To ensure the independence of governors, no new member would have been employed by the Corporation in the last five years and would have had no material business relationship with the College in the last three years.
The Search Committee will recommend all appointments for approval by the Corporation.
