Hartpury Animal and Land Careers Fair

The Hartpury Animal and Land Careers Fair will run at Hartpury College on Friday 28th October 2011. This academic year’s event will be bigger and better with many improvements thanks to feedback from last year’s exhibitors and students.

This event will provide students studying for degrees in applied animal (including equine) and land biological science subjects with excellent networking opportunities. For the second year the event will run with the support of VetNet Lifelong Learning Network funding, to provide students with an opportunity to network with employers from across the sector to give them a better understanding of the career opportunities available.

As a college, we are committed to providing high quality education and training for our students enabling them to go into relevant employment across the sector. The departments of Animal and Land Science, Equine Science and Veterinary Nursing Science have approximately 250 students enrolled on the final years of the Masters, Bachelor’s degree and Foundation degree programmes that will be graduating this year.

This year the event will also be heavily promoted to our 70 first year Foundation degree students who are required to undertake a work placement as part of their course. It is hoped that this event will provide a valuable networking opportunity for placement students and providers.

Last year’s event was a fantastic success, with 341 students from 15 institutions attending. An increase in publicity nationally has been planned for this year to build on this achievement.

The programme will involve a “market place” set up, whereby students can engage in discussions with employers/placement providers, alongside a series of talks by industry experts and employers from a range of industries. If you would be interested in providing a short talk or sitting on a careers panel, please let us know. Minimum engagement is provision of a stand promoting the work of your company and the employment opportunities that you may have. Further details for exhibitors can be found below. A booking form is also available below.

If you are interested in becoming involved in any aspect of this event, or for more details, please email or contact Dr Richard Rolfe on 01452 702345 ext. 2219.
