Top Modern Show Jumping Blood

Derby is a lovely young stallion representing the modern sport horse of today. He is light and long lined with beautiful conformation and three excellent, elastic gaites. He shows brilliant attitude, talent and power when loose jumped and is indeed a very easy and sensible horse with exceptional temperament. Derby is still very much a baby, just backed in December, but does everything he is asked to to with a very positive attitude. He will continue his education in 2012 aiming to do 4 year old classes.

Derby's sire is one of the currently most exiting sires in Europe; Verdi, who originates from the Holsteiner line 474-a, the line that has produced horses like Calato, Loxgraf Go, Aldato, Cicero, Nimrod and Colombo. Derby looks very much like his sire and seems to have inherited his qualities. Just as an 8 year old in 2010 Verdi placed highly in numerous Grand Prix: Under Maikel van der Vleuten he was third in Geesteren, fourth in Eindhoven and Lezno and landed in Frankfurt and Neerveteren both in the top eight, he never had a pole down! In 2007 and 2008 Verdi made it to the finals at the World Championships for young horses and in 2007 after four clear rounds he was the most successful stallion. At the stallion competition in Hertogenbosch he jumped his 25th course, again without a single pole down! Verdi is currently competing at CSIO 5* level and recently jumped double clear in the Nations Cup in St Gallen. His elegant technique, endless ability, enormous will to perform and his three top gaits are the qualities that will make him a Super Star. In 2009 Verdi produced 20 ster mares, five VSN finalists and 5 Den Bosch stallions.

Verdi's Sire Quidam de Revel started his jumping career under Hervé Godignon. The pair won the team bronze and placed individual 4th at the Olympic games in Barcelona 1992. Quidam was later sold to Denmark where he and Young rider Charlotte Velin placed 5th at the Europeean Championships. Charlotte's brother Tomas took later over the ride and competed very successfully at GP and WC level. Quidam's German offspring have earned over 1.69 million Euro. There are many "Quidams" that are very successful internationally, at the World Equestrian Games in 2002, he was the sire of ten competitors, of these was Dollar de la Pierre who was the team gold winner.

Verdi's Maternal Grand sire Landgraf I also counts among the most successful jumping sires in the world, over 4.4 million Euro have been earned by his offspring.

Derby's Dam Valencia Z was awarded “ster” by KWPN at her grading. She has so far only few foals, the first is a grey gelding born 2006 by Larino; “Boss” who was sold to Sweden as 4 year old. He shows both talent and brain with excellent results: per 1/12 he has competed in total 33 classes of which he has won 11! Second is Derby and the 2009 colt Elvis is by Wizzerd WV.

Dam sire Voltaire was one of the very first top class performance stallions to go on and prove himself equally as important as a breeding stallion. As competition horse he won numerous GP and Nation's Cup classes ridden by Jos Lansink; as sire he had most offspring at the Olympic Games of Atlanta in 1996 and was second in 1996 at the WBFSH Ranking of Showjumping Sires (ninth in the top 50 sires in the period 1991 to 2000). Voltaire has over 20 approved sons in Europe including the matchless (Olympic) Concorde (Jos Lansink) who followed his father footsteps as a true super star in the arena as well as in breeding.

Voltaire was by the influential Furioso II, who produced over 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved sons, who are spread across the world. Furioso II was full-brother to Mexico; sire of Le Mexico, who need no further presentation. Furioso II was also the sire of the Olympic gold medal winners Lutteur B and Pomone B.

Voltaire's dam, Gogo Möve, was also the dam to top competition horses like Fandango R, PS Falkan and Petite Fleur. She was by the great Gotthard, a stallion who certainly has made his mark in the Hanoverian breed. He is seen in the pedigree of horses like Goldika, Goya, Queensway, Genius, Grundstein and Grannus. Gogo Möve's dam-sire More Magicxx was also the sire of the 1980 Moscow Olympics dressage gold medalist, Mon Cherie, ridden by Elisabeth Theurer.

Derby's Maternal Grand Dam Zuchet was awarded keur, preferent by KWPN due to her qualities as broodmare: she has apart from Valencia Z produced 13 very good horses including three ster and one keur daughters, one son is exported and approved (G), one son – Delegaat - was through to 3rd stallion evaluation, and is now jumping GP, seven of her foals are competing SJ and/or Dressage.

Maternal Great Grand Sire Tangeloxx , approved TB and with KWPN, sired excellent GP Show jumpers like Acapulco, Allegro , Annabel(GER), Barriton, Bertina, Bolanda, Chief, Colour Design, Emmylou, he is also sire of International Dressage horse Darwin. One of Tangeloxx's daughters is Everdina, dam of Wil Schellekens wonderful Grand Prix mare Ladina, who produced the extremely talented but sadly deceased Padinus! Another of Tangeloxx's grand children is the unforgettable Glasgow (KWPN born as Justin) who together with Norman Dello Joio won numerous GP and WC competitions in US and Europe.

Derby's Maternal Great Grand Dam Suchet (graded keur, prestatie) was by Pantheonxx who also was behind multi approved stallions like Akademosxx, Akitosxx, Augustinosxx, Wanderlust, Storm, Fine Line, and Nelson Z.

We think Derby will be an interesting choice for any breeder of Show Jumpers and Eventers, especially for breeders who's mare needs improvement of jumping technique and ride ability/temperament. He represent the very Best Jumping blood in the world with a proven strong Dam line.
