Room Allocation Process

  • Rooms will be allocated in line with the College’s approved Accommodation Allocation policy.
  • Generally rooms will be allocated in date sequence of application received by the Residential Booking Coordinator. Due to the demand for accommodation, we cannot guarantee that you will receive your first choice of room type. If your first choice is not available you will automatically be allocated your second choice, if free, and so-on.
  • Students who are able to travel daily to college, either by public or college transport, and are not required by the nature of their course to be on campus, may be asked to travel rather than take a room if accommodation is full and required by a student who cannot travel daily.
  • Accommodation application forms can only be accepted with a £175 reservation deposit. On taking up residence, this deposit will be converted into a security deposit. This sum is made up of £150 damage deposit (£25 non refundable administration fee) and £25 key deposit. The damage deposit will be used to recoup any damage costs charged to you during the year and a refund of any balance (less the £25 administration fee) will be made after an exit check on the room. The £25 key deposit will be refunded on return of your key. Applications can take up to two months to process during the busy Spring period.
  • The deposit is refundable in full if cancellation occurs before 31st July 2011. If cancellation occurs before 31st August 2011, £120 will be refunded. If cancellation occurs between 31st August 2011 and enrolment, £75 will be refunded. If there is no arrival or notification there will be no refund.
  • If you cancel your room booking and you provide evidence that you have been unsuccessful in your application for a Residential Support Grant then a full deposit refund will be given.
  • If you are an International student and have to cancel the room due to an unsuccessful visa application then a full deposit refund will be given.
  • The residential contract will not come into force until you (or parent or guardian if you are under 18) have signed the licence or tenancy agreement.
  • Signing of the agreement must be completed by the deadline highlighted in the Accommodation Allocation policy (15th August 2011), or your room may be re-allocated.
