Students and staff representing all of Hartpury's Sports Academies helped to entertain the large crowds at yesterday's Torch Relay event, held at Cheltenham Racecourse, while honing their coaching skills into the bargain.

Activities were firmly based around 'having a go', with young and old trying their hand at a range of sporting skills.  Mums and grans were reviving their long-dormant netball shooting skills, while the younger generation were typically more happy to just kick a ball around, run recklessly into tackle bags, crack off a few hundred metres on a rowing machine or spike a volleyball.

One of the expected legacies of the 2012 Olympics is an uptake in sporting activity.  If yesterday's events are anything to go by, Hartpury's academies can look forward to a bounty of talent in the years to come.
