Top riders set to compete at

Over 400 entries have been received for the Mitsubishi Motors Horse Trials to be held at the College, from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 15th August. Entries include leading British riders - Mary King, William Fox-Pitt, Ruth Edge, Pippa Funnell, Sharon Hunt, Jeanette Brakewell and Lucy Wiesgersma together with International riders from 17 nations including Badminton winner Paul Tapner, (AUS), Mark Todd (NZL), Andrew Nicholson (NZL), Sam Griffiths (AUS), Lucinda Fredericks (AUS), Alex Hua Tian (CHN), and Dag Albert (SWE).
Hartpury Equine Academy student Alex Grinstead, studying a National Diploma in Horse Management (Business), will be competing in the CCI* on Broomfield Brazil, while international student Meaghan Miranovich, studying on a Foundation degree in Equine Sports Science from the USA will be competing in the CIC*** on Ahlerich.
Jeanette Brakewell will be riding Take It 2 The Limit, owned by the College, will compete again this year, after doing very well in the CIC*** last year where he was placed 7th out of the 81 horses that completed the class.
The Burghley Dubarry Young Event Horse series will start on Wednesday 11th August, providing enthusiasts with the opportunity to spot world class event horses of the future. The major CIC*** competition starts with Dressage from 8 am on Friday and Saturday. Show Jumping on Saturday from 2.30 pm and Cross Country from 10.30 am on Sunday. Meanwhile the 200 strong field in the CCI* and CCI** start the Dressage at 8 am on Thursday and Friday, Cross Country at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday and Show Jumping Sunday from 10 am.
This year the beautifully constructed cross country course, designed by Eric Winter, runs over the stunning parkland with a new route from the exciting water complex which will challenge competitors and delight spectators. The spectacular Indoor Equine Arena and Outdoor Complex provide the perfect setting for the Dressage and Show Jumping phases of the competition.
