Report on the first two days of competition at the NAF Hartpury Horse Trials

Wednesday, 10th August

The Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Series –This very popular competition is open to four and five year old horses. The aim of the Series is to encourage breeders and trainers to produce and present the type of young horse which will be considered to be the best material to make a world class three day event horse.  The brainchild of Bill Henson during his term as Director, it is still acknowledged as the shop window to view potential ‘four star’ horses at an early age.

Durbarry 4 Year Old Qualifier – 47 entries

1st  Peruising ridden by Oliver Townend (owned by Andrew Cawthray) (89); 2nd Billy Liffy ridden by Pippa Funnell (owned by The Billy Stud) (88), 3rd Billy Cuckoo ridden by Pippa Funnell (owned by Mr & Mrs Jewson) (84).

Dubarry 5 Year Old Qualifier – 51 entries

1st Olbos Cooley ridden by Laura Collett (owned by Mr & Mrs Apter) (93), 2nd Grappa Van De Brouwershoeve owned and ridden by Bumble Thomas (83) 3rd Spring Lightly owned and ridden by Chloe Newton (83).

Thursday, 11th August

The CCI* and CCI** Dressage started at 8 am in the Outdoor International Arena.
Taking part in the CCI* is Rosie Warner riding Cult Legend.  Rosie is an Equine Academy student here at Hartpury College studying a National Diploma in Horse Management.

1st Charlotte Agnew riding her own Pavonita Ts 43.7 2nd Georgie Spence riding Millhollow Classic, owned by Mrs Kerry Lynch, 47.9, 3rd Xavier Traisnel (FRA) riding Zeraton 49.2.

Pro Feet CCI** Section B

1st Bill Levett (AUS) riding Baggrave Summertime, owned by Mrs Caroline Edwards, (46.3) 2nd Helen West riding her own Mon Chapelle 48.6, 3rd Oliver Smith riding Randolph 48.9.
