Hartpury students in The Manor Reborn on
BBC1
When the BBC and the National Trust got together to renovate the historic Avebury Manor in Wiltshire, they needed volunteers to work on the Victorian Kitchen Garden. Dr Sam Harding (module leader Landscape Restoration and Conservation) and students Charlotte Hall, Chris Allen and Ashleigh O’Connor spent a day with the BBC and other volunteers constructing paths, weeding and planting in preparation for the grand opening in November. The four part documentary charts the progress of the renovation of both house and garden and is being shown on BBC One on Thursdays at 9pm.
Elizabeth Thurlow of the BBC commented, “We were all very impressed with the hard work done by Chris, Charlotte and Ashley. The three of them did more than we imagined could be done that day and helped us get closer to completion for the grand opening.”
The students hope to return to the project at a later date for further experience in renovating this important site.
