Animal, Land and Equine Careers Fair is another big
success
Before the Christmas break, Hartpury played host to the South West Regional Animal, Land and Equine Careers Fair in the Hartpury Arena. Local and national employers were on hand to offer advice to 250 students, who attended from universities from all over the country, exploring future career opportunities ready for when they graduate.
There were also a number of presentations including a CV Surgery, Postgraduate study, Teacher Training and getting into Veterinary School. Conservation Africa and Frontier gave presentations on the opportunities for students to work abroad during their university holidays and identified the important impact volunteering can have on future careers after graduation.
Special guest speaker Simon Watt, from Channel 4’s “Inside Natures Giants” presented a talk entitled “Dissections Uncut” where he discussed some of the fascinating science that didn’t make the final cut in the programme. He also gave advice to students who are looking for careers in media, including television work.
The day finished with a display from the Hartpury College Equine Academy demonstrating the role of coaching in working with sport animals and local dog agility clubs.
