Olds College Equine Science graduates get access to International Bachelors Degree
program
Equine Science students from Olds College in Alberta, Canada have now expanded educational and career opportunities, not to mention potential for life-enriching travel, thanks to a new agreement Olds have signed with Hartpury College. From this year forward, students with a two-year Equine Science Diploma will be able to enrol at Hartpury College and complete an internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Management (Top-up).
Olds College has also established a financial award through a donation from Xerox and Hartpury will provide a guaranteed scholarship to the amount of £1000 (approximately $1500 Canadian). With tuition similar to Canadian Universities, this is a very attractive opportunity to obtain B.Sc. in Equine Management.
“Hartpury College is considered by many to be the very heart of English horsemanship and their bachelor’s degree program is a perfect fit with the real-life, hands-on learning graduates take away from Olds College,” says Dalin Bullock, Chair, Olds College School of Animal Science.
“Now, anyone who is completing our program, or has completed it in the past, will have a chance to rub shoulders with top equine athletes from around the world and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in just one year.”
“Hartpury College is delighted to have reached agreement with Olds College to enable Olds students to progress to our BSc (Hons) in Equine Management,” says Malcolm Wharton, Hartpury College Principal and Assistant Vice Chancellor. “Olds College and Hartpury share many common values and I look forward to welcoming the Olds College students to Hartpury."
The specialist programmes of both Hartpury and Olds College make for a very attractive opportunity for students. There is a great similarity between the two institutions that will aid students in making the transition and enhance their learning. Further aiding students, Hartpury’s Senior Equine Lecturer (International Support) is available to assist international students with their studies.
There is also the option for Olds College students to spread the Top-up over two years as opposed to one.
The initial agreement between Hartpury College and Olds College was officially signed in April, 2010.
