Rowing Academy Compete at Fours Head

On Saturday 5th November, a crew from the Rowing Academy took part in the national ‘Fours Head’ event. This annual time-trial takes place on the River Thames, on the same course rowed for the Oxford-Cambridge boat race. Around 500 crews take part, ranging from GB Olympic crews, down to club, school and college level crews.

A-Level students Lauren Williams, Sarah Bonar, Hannah Mansfield and Charlotte Ollis-Olds were competing in the under-18 quad sculls category, and were placed seventh out of forty entries. This was a solid result for this early stage of the season, particularly for such an inexperienced crew. The aim from here is to see the Academy break into the top five at the next set of national events, taking place in the spring/summer.

Two of the crew, Williams and Bonar, will be competing at the first round of the GB Junior team selection trials, which take place in Boston, Lincolnshire on November 19th.
