Life and Hard Times by Doug Scott

Doug Scott, the legendary climber, will be at Hartpury on Monday 19th September to give his ‘Life and Hard Times’ lecture about his experiences backed up with his stunning photography of the world’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.

Doug has established himself as one of Britain’s leading mountaineers. He started to climb at the age of 12 and became the first Briton to climb Everest. His lecture tells an epic tale of hard climbing and survival in an illustrated talk including the night he survived in the death zone on Everest 100m below the summit and crawling off the Ogre after breaking both his ankles in a 12 hour ordeal.

Doug provides a great motivational talk, not only for those interested in climbing, but something everybody can enjoy - goal setting, endurance, pain, stamina and overcoming obstacles are all things we can relate to in sport as well as in life.

All proceeds will be donated to Community Action Nepal which helps build schools and health posts in Nepal. There is an auction at the end where you can bid for prints signed by Sir Edmund Hilary, Chris Bonnington and Doug Scott.

Tickets: £15.00 (£12.50 staff and students – you will need to show your ID card on the door)

Tickets can be bought online at Hartpury’s online shop https://estore.hartpury.ac.uk/browse/extra_info.asp?modid=1&prodid=202&deptid=11&catid=97&prodvarid=0
