Sarah Bonar shines at Great Britain Junior Rowing Assessments

On April 29th, Rowing Academy A level student Sarah Bonar took part in the latest phase of assessment for the GB Junior Rowing Team. The assessment took place at Dorney Lake, venue for the rowing events at the London Olympics later this summer. Assessments took place in single sculls over the 2k course, with a time trial, followed by semi-finals and finals.

Having placed inside the top 12 in the time trial, Sarah qualified for the A/B semi-finals. After narrowly missing out on a place in the A final, Sarah finished 3rd in the B final in tough conditions. This placed Sarah 9th overall in the country, meaning she is likely to get an invite to the final selection trials in Nottingham in July, where the final GB Junior Teams will be selected.

Over the same weekend other rowers in the Academy took part in a development regatta, also at Dorney Lake, giving them further excellent experience of 2k racing.

As the summer approaches the racing becomes more regular, Academy students will be representing Hartpury at Evesham and Wallingford Regattas this coming weekend.
