Success for Rowing Academy at National
Championships
A level students Hannah Mansfield and Lauren Williams, fresh from their selection for the Welsh Junior Team, travelled to Nottingham on 14th July to take part in the British Rowing National Championships. They were using the event as a warm-up for the Home International this coming weekend, where they will be representing Wales against crews from England, Scotland and Ireland. Having come third in their heat, with only first place qualifying directly for the final, the girls had to race a repechage to make the final. After coming second in the rep, the crew went into the final with an outside chance of a medal. The girls saved their best row until last to came home comfortably in third, just off the second place crew to pick up a bronze medal.
This was an excellent result, and ideal preparation for the Home International which takes place in Cardiff this weekend.
