Alice Tocknell

Alice joined Hartpury College in 2010 having completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science, whilst continuing studies on an MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Science (Sports Performance Psychology) at the University of Gloucestershire. Alice joined Hartpury as a Lecturer in Sport within the FE provision with teaching being focused on the disciplines of Sports Psychology and Sports Coaching.

Whilst studying at university, Alice complimented her studies by being vastly involved with the university netball club; competing within the BUCS Premier Division. Alongside her playing role Alice also contributed greatly on an organisational and coaching level. After leaving university Alice began playing at Hucclecote Netball Club, competing in the Gloucestershire Premier League.

Alice began her coaching experience at North Devon College where she was successfully selected for an England Netball Scholarship for coaching and umpiring. This passion grew through college and university and resulted in Alice coaching at Cheltenham College for the two years previous to joining Hartpury. Within her time at Cheltenham College, Alice had two very successful seasons and used the opportunity to complete an applied sports psychology study into athlete self-efficacy.

Alice’s role at Hartpury is focused on the development level of the Junior Netball Academy where she works closely with Sarah Pretty in order to develop the technical, tactical and mental skills of the players.
