Facilities
Sports Academy Centre:
The Sports Academy Centre is a multi-use facility offering an array of sports and academic services. The following areas are based in the Academy: Squash Court, Rehabilitation Suite, Sports Hall, Changing rooms, Spa Baths, Physiotherapy room, Power Gym, Cross Training Gym, Classrooms, Offices and Clubhouse. There is also a car parking facility with up to 100 spaces.
The Sports Academy Centre is designed as an elite training environment and supports the programmes of Gloucester Rugby Club, Forest Green Rovers FC, Cheltenham Town FC and all 7 of Hartpury’s sports academies.
Sports Rehabilitation Suite:
The Rehabilitation Suite houses massage beds and tables for physiotherapy testing. It is equipped with a projector and screen for lectures, along with washing facilities. Various testing equipment is also utilised.
3G Rubber Crumb Pitches:
Hartpury have two 3G pitches, one for rugby and tested to IRB regulations, and the other predominantly for football tested to FA certification. The rugby pitch is equipped with rugby goal posts and full pitch markings, the football pitch has full size and 6-a-side football goals and both rugby and football markings.
Power Gym:
The Power Gym is equipped with a range of heavy weights, including squat racks and olympic lifting platforms. The Power Gym is used by Gloucester Rugby Club, Hartpury academies and is suitable for elite athlete training programmes.
Cross Training Gym:
The Cross Training Gym is equipped with cardiovascular, resistance and free weight equipment. Some of the equipment includes: treadmills, spin bikes, rowing machines, fit balls, steppers and cross trainers, squat racks and several free weights and dumbells.
Sports Pitches:
There are 7 sports pitches in total; 3 football pitches and 4 rugby pitches. Rugby pitch 1 has a grandstand capable of seating 450 seated spectators, equipped with floodlights and is overlooked by the Hartpury Sports Academy Clubhouse. Football pitch 1 has floodlights, dugouts and is enclosed by spectator fencing. Football pitch 1 also houses training sessions for Forest Green Rovers and Cheltenham Town. Pitches are utilised for lectures, sports fixtures and events.
Squash Court:
The Academy houses one squash court and can be booked on a daily basis through the Sports Academy reception. The facility can be utilised as an area for training and lecturing purposes.
Sports Hall:
The Sports Hall is a multi-purpose facility with markings for football, netball, and badminton. It has a wooden sprung floor and sunken Netball post that comply with England Netball elite training requirements. There are markings for 4 badminton courts and a dividing curtain.
Clubhouse:
The Hartpury RFC Clubhouse and analysis suite has a bar, seating area and HD television equipped with computer supported by performance analysis software. It can be used for meetings, analysis and as a conference room for events. The clubhouse overlooks rugby pitch 1.
Human Performance Laboratory:
The Human Performance Laboratory is predominantly used for practical classes and individual data collection activities for dissertations. The Human Performance Laboratory also provides support to a wide variety of sports people, from students, through to members of the public and elite athletes. We have worked with a wide range of sports, including football, rugby and modern pentathlon.
The Human Performance Laboratory is equipped with:
Monark cycle ergometers, Woodway treadmill, Cortex on-line gas analyser, Servomex gas analyser,
Capillary blood sampling analysers used in exercise testing, Bioelectrical impedance analysers for body composition analysis, Anthropometrical equipment and Blood pressure monitors.
Golf Facilities:
The outstanding practice facilities that we have at the College include an on-site undercover driving range, a 9-hole short game practice area, a USGA specification putting green and an all-weather Jack Nicklaus designed putting green. Coaching is also made easier by the help of the GASP video analysis system, as used on Sky Sports, and the new Golf Auto Score System that helps to analyse players’ rounds.
