Netball
Over recent years the Junior Netball Academy at Hartpury College has had some exceptional results. In 2007 Hartpury College was asked by Netball South West to pilot the AASE scheme in Netball. Hartpury Netball has established links with Hucclecote Netball Club, the Talent and Performance Centre, and Netball South West, and is able to give the opportunity to young talented athletes to train and perform at the highest level while gaining a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma or A levels.
The AASE scheme has been designed to meet the needs of young, talented netball players (aged 16-18), who have the potential to achieve excellence in netball. The AASE programme takes two years to complete and aims to develop players through technical skills, tactical knowledge, physical conditioning and psychological techniques. Away from the practical elements, Apprentices also cover units on communication, managing an athlete’s lifestyle and career, and health and safety.
As a Netball Apprentice, you will receive between 10 and 15 hours per week of contact time with coaches. This will include a combination of technical skills, strength and conditioning, nutrition workshops and psychology lectures.
Selection
Membership of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) is based on performance and potential
for success. You will need to be able to demonstrate a technically sound knowledge of the game, tactical awareness, be physically fit and display a willingness to learn and the desire and commitment to succeed.
Places are limited and eligible students should be aged 16-18 and studying at Hartpury College on a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence) or A levels.
If you think you have the credentials for this Scheme, please send a competition CV to sarah.pretty@hartpury.ac.uk, explaining why you should be considered.
