Apprenticeships

Hartpury Business offers apprenticeships in:

Agriculture

Sport (see AASE provision)

Hartpury Business works with individuals and employers to identify opportunities for apprenticeships at Level 2 (Apprenticeship) or Level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship) for those aged 16-18, 19-24 and 25+. The level of the apprenticeship depends upon the job role and required experience.

The benefits

For individuals, apprenticeships give you the opportunity to learn and gain a national qualification while receiving a wage (minimum £95 per week) and work experience from an employer. They are an established route to promotion within organisations or provide pathways to other qualifications.  Apprenticeships require a high level of commitment and motivation: you will be working for your employer one day and studying for your qualification the next.

For employers, apprenticeships enable you to develop staff, to equip your company with benchmarked skills based on current best practice for someone, who at the end of the apprenticeship, you could retain. Apprentices will contribute to the business from day one. For 16-18 year olds there is typically no cost for course fees

What Hartpury can offer you

Apprenticeships are designed by senior professionals running successful businesses within your sector, so you can both be sure that the training received with us is always relevant and tailored to the needs of learner and your employer’s business, by people who understand what you do within your workplace. Your knowledge and skills will be up-to-date, and your commitment to your apprenticeship will demonstrate to your employer your enthusiasm and determination to succeed within the trade.

Our apprenticeships vary in length from twelve to twenty-four months, dependant on your course, your ability and your employer’s needs. We also offer flexible start dates, again to suit you and your employer.

Assessment

If you decide to undertake an apprenticeship at Hartpury, our team of specialists will visit your place of work throughout the year to assess your practical skills. In addition, apprentices generally come onto campus one day a week for set periods to acquire additional knowledge or practical experience necessary for successful completion. There is a degree of flexibility in regards to attendance, as we understand that during busy times at work this may be difficult and this is reflected in the scheduling of the period of attendance

Qualifications

Apprenticeships typically provide the following :

A national vocational qualification (NVQ or Diploma) at Level 2 or Level 3

Key or functional skills qualifications such as working with others, problem solving, communication and Information Technology

A Technical Certificate and opportunities to study for other qualifications or undertake training needed for particular occupations

Entry Requirements

There are no set entry requirements for our Level 2 Apprenticeships. If you are interested in an Advanced Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 standard), there are two entry routes available. The learner will either have completed an apprenticeship and are progressing onto Level 3, or has the relevant experience and skills and are in suitable employment. Advanced Apprenticeships are aimed individuals who have the potential and ambition to work at a Supervisory Management or Technician level and a suitable current job role
