With an ever-growing realisation of the importance of food security, British agriculture is becoming undeniably healthier. Enhanced productivity alongside long-term sustainability is vital to guarantee a robust agricultural future. To provide graduates capable of supporting this expanding industry we have recently reviewed the programme to ensure it is meeting the needs of students and employers, by incorporating industry linked qualifications and extensive work experience opportunities. This has a resulted in a unique Foundation degree which is designed to produce practical students with the knowledge and understanding to become the farm managers of the future.
Future generations of agriculturalists and farm managers need to be dynamic, dedicated and enthusiastic in their approach in order to play an active part in sustaining a vibrant industry. Choosing an Agricultural Business Management Foundation degree at Hartpury will provide a rewarding challenge, combining an essential mix of agricultural technical expertise, legislative and business acumen.
Studying at Hartpury
To enhance learning a variety of methods are employed, incorporating discussion with lectures, field trips where students quiz practitioners in the industry, laboratory-based practicals and seminars. Students are assessed by a range of methods designed to develop and establish life skills, including practical assessments; oral examinations; written examinations; assignments; financial plans and seminar presentations. Our students also get to compete in national challenges and competitions providing an opportunity to engage with industry and face real challenges facing businesses up and down the country.

Careers
You will have the opportunity to follow careers in agriculture and farm management, business management within the agriculture, countryside and rural land industries, working for a variety of statutory agencies, farm management companies, environmental monitoring organisations and within agricultural education. You also have the opportunity to top up to an honours degree.
