Equine Performance (sandwich)
FdSc
Work Experience – “Your CV gets you an interview”
“If you want a career in managing performance horses and are interested in combining practical experiences, a robust academic curriculum and study at an internationally renowned competition centre then this programme is for you”
– Programme Leader Lucy Dumbell
A feature of the Fdsc Equine Performance is the amount of work experience it contains. Experiences include yard duties to build skills and confidence, volunteering at our equine therapy centre and during competitions and completing ‘real-world’ work experience.
At UWE Hartpury you are part of a thriving community of university students, close to the hustle and bustle of Cheltenham and Gloucester, but with the advantage of being on a large, rural estate. On this programme your peers will all be interested in performance horses and you will be supported in developing key industry skills alongside other transferable skills.
During the sandwich year you are still a full time student on a sandwich year with the security of a placement tutor to support and guide you through making the most of your placement year. The fees for this year are heavily reduced as we recognise its worth to you (and your CV). It is however, possible to opt out of this sandwich year if you are returning to study following working with performance horses.
“Employers repeatedly tell us that a year’s experience on your CV will dramatically improve your career prospects.”
