The UWE
Partnership
Hartpury’s link with the University of the West of England (UWE) started in 1997 when Hartpury was awarded Associate Faculty status. We recognised how vital it was that Hartpury students graduated with a degree validated from a well respected and resourced university. UWE was the obvious choice, being the largest provider of higher education in the South West of England, with more than 30,000 students from over 140 countries worldwide and located just 40 miles away.
UWE is a vibrant, forward-thinking university, with courses strongly influenced by partners in business and industry, and with many programmes accredited by professional bodies. UWE’s partnerships bring together knowledge, experience and facilities to deliver the very best student experience. Students benefit from guest lecturers at the top of their careers, cutting-edge facilities, exceptional work experience and a diverse range of contemporary projects. The university prides itself on giving its students the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their chosen career, and this is reflected in its consistently strong teaching quality and employment records.
One of the leading post-1992 universities for research and one of the fastest growing research institutions in the country, UWE is committed to finding practical solutions to real problems. UWE’s research community makes a significant contribution to advances in industry, commerce, public services and the professions, both nationally and internationally.
So what does this partnership mean for you?
In essence you will be a UWE student based at the Hartpury campus. Academically you will benefit from obtaining an UWE degree qualification and during your studies you will have access to the online learning and support services provided by UWE including the UWE Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), on site library facilities and careers advice service. A representative from UWE Careers visits the Hartpury campus on a regular basis to provide career development advice. More information on the Learning Resources available on campus can be found here.
In addition, as a UWE Hartpury student you will gain automatic membership to the UWE Students’ Union (click here for further details) and you will also be able to represent UWE Hartpury in National British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions across Men’s Rugby, Men’s Football, Netball and Golf.

“...future employment is on the schedule even before day one. Industry designs the courses, refreshes the curriculum, and assesses the students’ work…”
