The Course:
Basic Word Processing:
This course will take you right through the process of setting up a simple Word document, using different toolbars to enhance it with colour, changing the size and styles of font, adding headers and footers and incorporating pictures and symbols. The day will be split into two – the morning will teach you the skills with practice exercises to consolidate your learning, and the afternoon can be spent with you applying these skills to some of your own workplace applications.
Areas of study:
- Understanding the Word template
- Using the standard and formatting tool bars
- Layouts
- Shortcuts and left/right clicking
- Inserting pictures, symbols, headers and footers
Advanced word processing:
This course will build on your existing knowledge, or will follow the course above, and concentrate on setting up and formatting tables and charts, creating mail-merge documents and using macros. Again, the day will be split to allow you to apply your new found skills to some real work-based applications.

- Viewing and using split screens and windows
- Tables and Charts
- Mail Merge
- Table of Contents, Citation and Bibliography
- Footnotes and hyperlinks
