Wildlife and Behavioural Ecology

The Wildlife and Behavioural Ecology research group has two main areas of research; sexual selection and UK wildlife conservation, which are explored in both the laboratory and field environment. Firstly, the group aims to examine sexual selection and sexual conflict by investigating the impact of variables such as mating strategy, dominance and personality on fitness of both vertebrate and invertebrate species. A second strand of this group focuses on the factors influencing mammal density and population in mammals, such as habitat fragmentation and landscape connectivity. Aspects of this research will be carried out in partnership with Queen Mary University London, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, Forestry Commission and Natural England, and other external organisations as appropriate.
