Alfred Morris was Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West of England in 1997 when the College became an Associate Faculty. He is a former member of the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, the Council for National Academic Awards, the Higher Education Quality Council, the Further Education Funding Council, South West Regional Development Authority, the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, North Bristol NHS Trust (Chairman) and holds a number of directorships and trusteeships. He is currently Chairman of Higher Education Associates Ltd, a strategic consultancy firm with an international client list. He has appeared in The Sunday Times lists of 'The 500 Most Powerful People in Britain' and 'The Ten Most Powerful People in the South West'. He was High Sheriff of Gloucestershire for 2006/2007. Alfred was awarded a CBE in 2003 for services to Higher Education.
