What I’m up to: I’m about to start my MSc Research by Animal Behaviour and Welfare programme and I’ve already had my undergraduate dissertation research about the behaviour and welfare of laboratory animals accepted for publication within a scientific journal. This research was also then presented at an international conference and I got the chance to present it myself at a research seminar, which is all great for my CV.
How Hartpury helped me to get there: The open nature of the assignments allowed me to perform research into the topics where my key interests lie and the academic team at Hartpury College deserve an award for their willingness to go the extra mile. My dissertation supervisor worked with me as the co-author in developing my dissertation project into a full-length scientific journal article, meaning that one of my life goals of becoming a published author has been achieved. Now my career ambition of being a HE or FE academic tutor has shifted from being a ‘career dream’ to a ‘career goal’.
