What I did on my work placement: I was lucky enough to be a major events administrator during the NAF Five Star International Horse Trials at Hartpury. It was an amazing opportunity to work with world class OIympic riders and see behind the scenes at a major championships. I had a really active role. I got to speak to some amazing competitors who I never thought I’d be within touching distance of, I collected scores, I worked with great commentators and even got involved with the building of the cross-country course.
Career ambitions: Coming to Hartpury to go to university gives you opportunities you wouldn’t get elsewhere, from working at events to being involved with the business/commercial aspects and facilities at the college. It also enabled me to balance my academic study perfectly with riding and competing at elementary dressage level. I’m not sure what career I’ll have in the long-term but coming to Hartpury definitely puts you ahead of the field in your chosen industry.
