LUCIANA DE MARTIN SILVA - PRINCIPAL LECTURER AND PROGRAMME MANAGER

Luciana De Martin Silva is a Programme Manager and Principal Lecturer at Hartpury and is currently in the final stage of her doctoral research at Cardiff Metropolitan University. Luciana completed her MA in Education (Sports Coaching) at the University of Bath in 2007 and a BSc in Physical Education (Qualified Teacher and Bachelor degree) at the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil) in 2003.

She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and her research interests evolve around the theoretical and practical facets of Sports Coaching and Physical Education, mainly focusing on sport pedagogy, learning experiences and identity development, and social interaction in coaching and teaching. Luciana is a member of the ‘Teaching, Learning and Scholarship’ committee at Hartpury.

ENTERPRISE AND PARTNERSHIPS

  • 2014-15: Grant from the Football Association for the planning and delivery of an Initiative to increase girls’ participation in Futsal (£3,400 in collaboration with the Gloucestershire County Girls League);

  • 2014-2015: Higher Education Academy (HEA) fund – Research project exploring the use of e-portfolios within Higher Education courses (£1,500);

  • Partnerships with local clubs and schools created and embedded within modules, providing students with ‘real life’ experiences.

  • Developing research with colleagues in the UK, Brazil and Portugal.

     

     

    Coaching/PE teaching experiences

    Luciana has previous experience as a PE teacher and is currently the Head Coach for Bristol City Women’s Futsal. She is a mentor within the Gloucestershire FA where she supports the development of female coaches. She also coaches in the FA Futsal Centre of Excellence with the aim to identify, develop and support the transition of talented young players (boys, 16-19 year olds) into the England pathway. She was the only woman Head Coach in the Men’s Futsal National league from 2013-2015. Luciana also has experience as a Football/Futsal player, having played for over 15 years. The highlights of her career are a gold medal in the World University games in Beijing in 2001 playing Football for Brazil and more recently, winning the FA Futsal Cup twice - in 2010 as a Futsal player for Team Bath and in 2015 as the Head Coach for Bristol City.
