A 360 hectare classroom
Hartpury College is based on a 360 hectare estate. Within our estate, 318 hectares is designated for commercial use - providing students wanting to develop careers in agriculture, land and animal with an ideal training ground to develop their skills.
The grounds of the college comprise areas of ancient semi–natural woodland, parkland and the farmed estate. All of these features are used by staff and students for research projects, work placements and professional development training.
Within the rural community of Gloucestershire, Hartpury enjoys excellent working relationships with private, public and charitable organisations which also provide student placement opportunities, research projects and help with teaching both in college and during field trips.
Students and staff recently won an award for our work to improve and protect the Gloucestershire landscape. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, who welcome Hartpury students on placement as volunteer reserves managers each year, honoured us with the ‘Exceptional Contribution by a Landowner to Gloucestershire’s Living Landscape’ award.
