Why study Animal Management and Science at Hartpury?

If you want to work with animals, then Hartpury offers a dedicated environment to provide you with the practical skills, qualifications and experience employers are looking for to succeed in this thriving industry.

The Animal Management Centre is equipped with all kinds of different animals from small mammals such as rabbits to larger animals like llamas!

You’ll get plenty of experience handling the animals as well as developing all the animal management and scientific skills and knowledge required for a range of careers.

Our facilities for Animal Management and Animal Science students continue to develop, with the centrepiece being our fantastic walled garden; home to our meerkats, birds and rodents. On top of this, we have laboratories, dedicated reptile and aquatics rooms and enclosures where students can work with emus, wallabies and rare-breed goats.

For our Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma students, we even offer a fantastic opportunity to go on a residential study tour to Borneo! You’ll also benefit from external speakers and extra-curricular visits, including to zoos and rescue centres.

You’ll be supported by a team of experienced and enthusiastic lecturers with a range of knowledge of the industry, including animal technicians and groomers. Some staff have been involved in laboratory work, while others show horses and take part in dog agility!.
