T Level Foundation Programme Agriculture

T Level

The foundation programme is a one-year programme designed for students who need a bit more preparation to progress onto a full T Level or into employment. You'll develop your technical knowledge and practical skills in agriculture, alongside working with employers; the foundation programme will also allow you to continue studying English and Maths.

Course Overview

Enhance your digital and study skills to equip yourself for employment or pursue a full T Level by enrolling in a Level 1 Essential Digital Skills qualification. Additionally, you'll undertake a Level 2 extended certificate in agriculture, to further develop your technical expertise. You'll study the following units:

  • Introduction to Land-based Machinery Operations
  • Introduction to Animal and Plant Biology
  • Assist with Agriculture Habitat Management

Should you not have attained a GCSE grade 4 in English and/or maths, you'll continue your studies in these subjects.

You'll complete 20 days of industry experience with an employer to further develop your knowledge and skills.

English and Maths

Students who have not achieved English and/or maths GCSE grade 4 will continue studying these.

Digital and Study Skills

Students will develop these skills to prepare them for employment and/or the full T Level through studying a Level 1 Essential Digital Skills qualification.

Personal Development

Students will complete all aspects of the Hartpury Certificate.

Technical Knowledge and Skills - Agriculture

Students will complete a Level 2 Technical programme to develop their knowledge and skills in agriculture:

  • Introduction to Land-based Machinery Operations
  • Introduction to Animal and Plant Biology
  • Assist with Agriculture Habitat Management

Employability Skills

Students will complete 20 days of industry experience with an employer to develop their knowledge and skills.

3 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, to include either English Language or Maths. Other occupation-specific requirements may apply.

Once we receive your application, we will write and invite you to attend an interview and written assessment with a member of staff on your chosen course. The interview is an opportunity to discuss the course content, ask any questions you may have and go on a tour of the campus.

Students who pass all elements of the programme (including English and Maths) and have a good tutor reference will be eligible to apply for either our T Level in Livestock Production or T Level in Crop Production.
