Hartpury College

Be the next chapter in our success story – study for your A-levels at Hartpury

At Hartpury, we’re so much more than a traditional sixth form college or school. We aim high for our students but we’re about so much more than just qualifications and league tables.

Studying on our specialist College and University Centre campus offers unrivalled opportunities to expand your horizons and achieve your ambitions, from getting a place at the university you want to opening the door to your dream job. And we’ve still got places available to start in September 2016.

We’ll give you all the care and support you need but we’ll also treat you as an adult and an individual. We can offer you a tailor-made timetable that fits around your other commitments, you'll have access to our exceptional sport, equine and animal and land facilities and you’ll be taught on a campus that also has a thriving university and international student community. Plus there’s no school uniform of course!

Our students have gone on to some fantastic opportunities, from Coco Cheuk Leung, who is now reading veterinary medicine at Edinburgh University after achieving an A* and three As and completing our unique pre-veterinary programme, to Olivia Oakeley, who developed her riding in Hartpury’s own Elite Equine Academy while studying and is now a star on the international dressage stage and freelance equestrian coach!

“Coming to Hartpury meant I didn’t have to choose between furthering my riding and my education as I could do both. The lecturers are really good, the lessons were interesting, and the Equine Academy offered all the support an elite athlete needs, from Strength and Conditioning to Sport Psychology and nutrition. That support enables both rider and horse to be the best they can be and there’s flexibility around studying and competing.”

Olivia Oakley, A-level and Equine Academy student

We’re particularly skilled at supporting A-level students who want to combine study and sport, offering the chance to train and compete at an elite level in rugby (men’s and women’s), football, rowing, equine, golf, modern pentathlon and netball. We’ll design your timetable so you can realise your potential on and off the field.

But it’s not only elite athletes who benefit from studying A-levels with us. Our Sports Academy facilities are used for PE A-level practicals, plus all students have access to our cardio and power gyms and there’s a wide range of recreational sports opportunities. Take keen footballer Nick Gallagher for example, who is studying biology, maths, physics and chemistry and has just been offered a place at Cambridge!

Our A-level offer is open to all. You’ll benefit from smaller class sizes than you would experience at school and other colleges, six hours of lecture time per subject per week and you’ll be taught by dedicated subject specialist A-level lecturers who are passionate about their subject. And if you’re studying a science, you’ll use university standard laboratories for your practicals.

Your learning environment will be second to none. Our fantastic new College Learning Centre offers state-of-the-art classrooms kitted out with interactive whiteboards, wifi network and virtual learning environment, plus a library packed with PCs and journals, books and e-books that’s open seven days a week.

And throughout your time with us, you’ll get all the advice and guidance you need to help you progress in your chosen career, and additional vocational skills that will help you stand out from the crowd when applying for university places and jobs.

As well as dedicated Oxbridge and Vet Science co-ordinators and a team of UCAS advisers, our own university lecturers offer personal statement workshops.

“Studying at Hartpury was an amazing experience. Everyone was so supportive – it really was a home away from home for me.”
