Hartpury College

Students Union

Further Education Students

Further Education students are automatically members of the Hartpury Students’ Union (HSU) and can get involved in the clubs, societies and events that the HSU organise.  You can start your own club or society too if your interest isn’t covered – just let the SU know!

Higher Education Students

As a Hartpury HE student you will gain automatic membership to the Hartpury Students’ Union (HSU) along with your membership into UWE Students’ Union (UWESU). This means you can get involved in the wide range of activities and events taking place on the Hartpury and UWE campuses.

As part of the fabulous Freshers’ Week at Hartpury, the Freshers’ Fair will be your initial opportunity to discover the range of great clubs and societies on offer and, if you have an interest we don’t cater for, you are welcome to start up something new. Some of our popular societies and clubs include:

  • Christian Union
  • LABS (Land and Animal Biology Society)
  • Young Farmers
  • Snowsports
  • Volleyball
  • Netball
  • Women’s Rugby
  • Equestrian Club
  • LGBT
  • Vet Society
  • H1KE (Backpacking)

Joining in is a great way to meet people, enhance your employability, fill your free time and, most importantly, have a good time!  The sports clubs are recreational – you don’t have to be an elite athlete or have previous experience to take part.  It’s all about having fun, keeping active and maybe learning something new.

Representation

The student voice is fundamental to everything we do and if you want to be sure yours is heard and become more involved in campus life, you can join the either the FE or HE forums.

You can also help organise events and activities here on the Hartpury campus.  Your Students’ Union can give you more information about what events and campaigns are happening.

The students’ union exists to promote, defend and extend the rights of students.

It is our responsibility to champion a strong student voice at Hartpury with a vision to initiate change and enhance the student experience. Your Students’ Union exists to support you when you are jobless, wanting to feedback an issue with your course or need advice. We exist to represent you and champion your views, concerns and ideas to secure an outstanding student experience for all of our members.

Janine Fox is the Hartpury Students’ Union Officer and is there to help you access the support and opportunities the SU can offer you.  You can email her at Janine.Fox@Hartpury.ac.uk

Lona Price Jones is your UWESU Campus Officer for Hartpury, as well as a member of the HSU Exec. The role of the campus officer is:

  • To represent and seek the views of the students based at Hartpury campus
  • To communicate and liaise with The Executive Team at UWESU
  • To support Hartpury campus and inter campus based activities and events

Lona is keen to hear your views and ideas so make sure you get them to her!  You can use the Hartpury Students' Union Facebook page, or drop your suggestions into one of the comments boxes (in the HE LRC, Computer room in the HE block and Legends). Your student rep can also feed things back to her, as can Janine.
