Course Overview

This Level 2 Diploma will provide you with a sound introduction to agriculture and its allied industries. The course includes a good balance of machinery, crop and livestock husbandry, as well as estate skills. There will be plenty of opportunity to gain practical experience on the College’s own Home Farm, enabling you to immediately put into practice what you have learnt in the classroom. The course will also give you the confidence and motivation to develop yourself and your career prospects by undertaking more study.

• Discovering the agricultural industry
• The operation of agricultural machinery
• Crop and livestock husbandry
• Agricultural practical skills
• Practices in the workshop

Work experience
During your course you will complete two periods of work experience, one in the spring term and one in the summer term, providing you with the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the industry. You will arrange your own work placement within an agricultural-related industrial organisation with the guidance of the agricultural academic staff.

Two GCSEs at grade D or above in any subject.

Tuition fees

Students under 19 on 31 August 2016 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free.

Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees.  We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification.

Students aged 24 and over.  You may need to pay for your course.

Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration.

When should I apply

We welcome applications for September 2016 entry from October 2015 onwards. You do not have to wait for your GCSE results.
