Level 3 Extended Diploma Countryside Management (Game)

Course Overview

This course has a strong focus on game through both theoretical and practical sessions.

You will gain invaluable experience on our 286 hectare farm estate participating in various gamekeeping duties including beating on our commercial shoot. Additionally you will undertake management of the Red Deer herd.

Some of the subjects you will study include fishery management, deer management, pest and predator control, gamebird production, woodland management, ecology and conservation, land-based machinery operations and an investigative project of your own choice of topic.

This course is a mix of both written and practical assessments. The practical resources of Home Farm will be utilised during the teaching and wherever possible commercial activities will be undertaken.

Entry Requirements

GCSE

Five GCSEs at Grade C or above, which must include English Language and Mathematics.

Tuition fees

Students under 19 on 31 August 2016 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free.

Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees.  We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification. 

Students aged 24 and over.  You may need to pay for your course.

Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration.

When should I apply

We welcome applications for September 2016 entry from October 2015 onwards. You do not have to wait for your GCSE results.
