Course Overview

Who is this course for?
This course is for candidates that have completed the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants and want to further their skills.

What will I study on the course?
During the course you required to complete assessments for all four core units:
• Carry out styling and finishing of dogs
• Assessment and planning of dog grooming work
• Promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of animals
• Health checking a dog by a groomer
Plus a minimum of 2 credits from the optional units

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through practical, written work and exams.  You will be assessed grooming all types of dogs.

Will this course lead to a qualification?
Successful completion of this course will lead to achieving the City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming

What can I do on completion of this course?
On successful completion of this qualification you can progress on to Level 4 or start your own dog grooming business.

Breeds of dog required for this course:  All dogs will be styled to breed standard

For Clipping & Styling:

• Norwich Terrier
• Welsh Terrier
• Airedale Terrier
Please ensure that any wire coated breeds for Hand Stripping have not previously been clipped

Entry Requirements

GCSE

Two GCSEs(or equivalent) at grade C or above which must include English Language and must have completed City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (Merit or above).

Additional

You are required to provide a grooming top, plastic apron and wear flat rubber soled shoes.
All candidates should have an up to date Tetnus vaccination.
Candidates are required to provide their own dog models, from the list provided.
