Changes in legislation effective from January 2006 have placed greater onus and accountability on anyone in the food business with supervisory responsibility. It is therefore vital they are equipped with both the knowledge and confidence to do their job effectively. This is a three day course for those who are responsible for the control and promotion of effective food safety practice in the workplace.
The course syllabus will include:
Temperature control (chilling, cooking)
Applying and monitoring good hygiene practices
Implementing good food safety procedures
Contributing to the safety training of others
Successful students can go on to the Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering and Manufacturing, which places emphasis on managing food safety.
Completion of the course and examination will enable candidates to:
Play an active part in monitoring food hygiene standards
Be involved in training activities, especially on the job training
Be equipped to effectively supervise food handlers on hygiene issues
Be able to carry out hygiene audits
Encourage good standards of personal hygiene
Be able to assist in hazard analysis programmes
Help in the formulation and writing of hygiene policies, instructions etc.
The Level 2 Award in Food Safety would be an advantage before this course. Experience of food hygiene and due diligence whilst working in the food industry. Students for the course will need to have an analytical approach to food hygiene and will be encouraged to demonstrate how they can influence others and positively encourage good standards.
Students will watch instructional videos, participate in class exercises and then answer a multiple choice test paper at the end of the day.
Students are required to bring a notepad and pen
