City & Guilds Introduction to Trainer Skills Level 2
The Introduction to Trainer Skills is designed to provide participants with a sound introduction to the concepts of a systematic approach to training. The course content is comprehensive at this level, building the skills, knowledge and abilities required to be an effective trainer.
On completion of the Introduction to Trainer Skills, learners will equip themselves and their employer with a member of staff who is able to plan, deliver and evaluate effective training, no matter what the content of the subject they are delivering.
The course is based on the training cycle, covering three main areas:
- Planning (including session planning, learning styles, designing resources, differentiation, aims and objectives)
- Delivery (teacher/trainer and learner balance, maintaining attention, motivation, assessing learners, effective questioning etc). Participants will deliver a 15 minute 'micro-teach session' that they have planned
- Evaluation (self, peer group and course evaluation).
The course is suitable for anyone, in any role, who trains other employees in their organisation or candidates looking for a training qualification as an alternative to the Level 3 Award in Education & Training (previously PTLLS) route. Participants who complete the 2 day course will receive a nationally recognised Level 2 certificate from City & Guilds.
