Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma Physical Education and Coaching
If you’re looking for a career in the coaching or teaching industries – or hoping to progress onto a higher education sports degree, then this course provides an excellent foundation for your development towards your goals.
All students will complete a ten week placement at a local primary school, where you will deliver physical education lessons to pupils of all ages.
Further opportunities to gain experience in leadership and coaching roles through academic and voluntary work will also be available, specifically through volunteer placements. This could involve delivery in after school clubs or could be an additional coaching placement on your independent study day.
You will learn through a mix of theory based and practical session to give you a solid grounding in all aspects of coaching.

Two GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be English language together with either mathematics or a science
Students under 19 on 31 August 2016 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free.
Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees. We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification. Please visit this page for more information.

Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration.
When should I apply
We welcome applications for September 2016 entry from October 2015 onwards. You do not have to wait for your GCSE results.

Your course will combine classroom study and practical sessions. This includes the ‘Sports Coaching’ and ‘Physical Education’ and the ‘Care of Children and Young People’ modules that are practically based and provide the platform and practice that you need for your schools placement.

If you successfully complete this course, you can progress straight onto the second year of the Extended Diploma (Coaching). If you are a mature student, it is possible to progress on to university on completion of this programme.
