Physical Education and School SportUCAS CODE
This new programme will offer students the opportunity to gain skills and understanding of a range of aquatic, adventurous and expressive activities central to the requirements of the school physical education curriculum.
Hartpury provides the ideal learning experience for those seeking a career as a Physical Education teacher. The course consists of specific modules designed to provide the specific skills, knowledge and experience to successfully apply for a PGCE in either Primary or Secondary education.
A key aspect of the programme will be to provide a ‘gradient’ of developmental ‘in-school’ experiences away from the lecture theatre and across all levels of the award. In designing the programme, we have drawn heavily on the expertise and guidance of practitioners in the region, such as current PE department heads and teaching staff. These experts have directly influenced programme structure and content so that it is both current and relevant for students interested in physical education and school sport.
Career opportunities include primary and secondary teaching (via successful application for a PGCE), professional internships, sport development and the possibility to continue with postgraduate study, which includes our own MSc Coaching Science.
The programme can be completed full time in three years; part time routes are available and should be planned with your programme manager
