The Hartpury Equine Academy aims to support and develop high calibre riders seeking to build a competitive career in one of the four Olympic disciplines whilst continuing their academic education. From September 2014 there will be three levels within the Hartpury Equine Academy: the Elite Squad, the Elite Development Squad and the Development Squad.
These Squad packages are designed to support Horse and Rider Partnerships who have the potential to go forward and represent the country at a international level. Membership to each academy squad depends upon previous competition history and successful completion of an academy trial. Applicants for the squads are also eligible for Hartpury Equine Scholarships which provide financial support alongside the equestrian coaching programme available.
Students are able to apply for Academy membership prior to each academic year. The standards are high and so if a student is not successful the first time, there is the opportunity to continue to work on the competition CV utilising wider support available at Hartpury. This includes engaging in formal riding and coaching sessions with on-site discipline specialists Those who are successful in gaining academy membership will benefit from a range of support networks and outstanding facilities, alongside guidance on how to balance academic requirements alongside competition success.
