Results on the rise again as more Hartpury students celebrate first choice places

Hartpury’s A-level students are gearing up for their next adventure following another outstanding year of results at the college.

The A-level pass rate rose again, to 98%, while a record number of students have gained places at their first choice universities where they will study a wide range of subjects.

Rachael Johnson, 18, who was a star performer in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s annual Chemistry Olympiad earlier this year, will go on to read Chemistry at York University after achieving A*, A, B in her A-levels.

Eleanor Gilbert, 18, from Tewkesbury, who will go on to study Marine Biology and Oceanography at Plymouth University after achieving A, A, B, B said: “I still can’t believe that I’ve got into my first choice university and I couldn’t have done it without the help of all my teachers! I wasn’t able to wipe the smile off my face this morning and it was great to see so many people picking up their results who had done just as well.”

Denise Hughes, Hartpury’s Head of A-levels, said: “We’re thrilled with our A-level results, which reflect the hard work of our students and the excellent level of teaching on offer here.  It’s brilliant to see such a large number of students going on to study at university and we wish them all the best for the future.”

Other notable achievers included Emily Cruse, part of Hartpury’s unique pre-veterinary programme, who achieved AAB in biology, chemistry and pyschology and will go on to read Veterinary Science at Bristol University, as well as Tom Grahamslaw (A*, A, A) and Hannah Meek (A*, A*, B).
