Hartpury’s Edge signs for Hereford United

Hartpury’s Edge signs for Hereford United

The 20 year old from Gloucester has signed for the Bulls on a short term, non-contract basis, in a deal which will see the Sports Coaching student join up with the squad for training twice a week.

Hereford United manager Martin Foyle has stated that he has made the signing as a way to look at and assess Jamie's abilities as a potential full-time signing for next season, and also to provide much needed cover for the current squad.

This will allow Edge to continue his studies, whilst looking to progress in the professional game, something which Director of Football Tom Radcliffe is extremely proud of;

“This shows you that our vision does work and that you can combine academic study and elite sport development. It once again reinforces the quality of the Hartpury football environment. Jamie has benefitted from the football programme with the help of Marc (Richards) and the team. We wish him well and will support his football, but his academic course completion is of paramount importance. Jamie is fully aware of that and loves the professional environment on offer at Hartpury. He works hard and will be an asset in the professional game.”

Senior Football Manager, Marc Richards, was also full of praise for the ex-Arsenal and West Brom midfielder.

“Jamie's attitude and application since he started at Hartpury has been absolutely superb, and he deserves the chance that he now has. To support him, we will be working on a bespoke timetable for Jamie where he plays for Hereford, Hartpury and continues his education. This is just another example of our flexibility when it comes to giving our players a chance to progress professionally.”

This positive news further highlights the reputation of the football programme, and follows the recent story that striker Joe Parker signed a pre-contract agreement with League 2 side Newport County.
