Sarah Flynn writes - Hartpury College’s Elite junior football team put in an exceptional performance at home to take a 7-0 win against South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.
The match started with SGS attacking hard, meaning Hartpury had to pull out all the stops in defence.
However, Hartpury's response to that pressure set the tone for the whole game, with fast and mindful defending enabling them to then push on in the opposition half.
Tom Luce scored the first goal for Hartpury in the 21st minute after an excellent tee-up from George Shutt.
Then came a knockout goal from Solomon Wheatley before Sam Hicks was awarded a free-kick, but he couldn’t quite connect.
Still in the first half, the third goal came from a monumental pass between Chris Gregan to Mustapha Bundu, who followed up with a headed goal in the 40th minute.
Hartpury continued in the same vein in the second half and Bundu was able to add to his tally when the hosts capitalised on a free-kick.
SGS maintained their temp and did not let their heads drop but George Shutt increased the advantage for Hartpury with an amazing goal in the 28th minute of the second half.
Sirdic Adjei Grant scored Hartpury's penultimate goal with a perfect driving shot into the net and the final goal was hardest to take for the visitors, as they put the ball away in their own net.
