Hartpury is offering a fresh start to 16 to 18-year-olds looking to start 2015 with a bang. The new scheme will offer the chance to gain valuable work experience and earn an apprentice wage while working towards an NVQ qualification or work-based diploma.
From January, Hartpury will be offering a range of junior internships at its specialist sport, equine and agriculture campus. With a stunning 360-hectare estate equipped with top-class facilities as your classroom, there’s no better place to support your work-based learning.
The 12-month internship scheme aims to provide you with all the skills you need to pursue your chosen career path. You need to be aged 16 to 18, able to work 30 hours a week and have your English and Maths GCSEs (grades A to C).
There are eight roles in business administration available within different areas across the college, including in the Further Education (college) department, Student Services, Estates, Human Resources, Student Experience, Equine, PAs office and in the new Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre. There are also two agriculture apprenticeships available in mixed farming.
Alongside gaining work experience and a qualification, the interns will receive a comprehensive training package that covers areas such as equality and diversity, safeguarding, first aid, health and safety and data protection.
Hartpury Principal, Russell Marchant, said “I believe this new initiative will provide young people with the perfect opportunity to make their way into the world of work, gaining valuable experience for their CVs and earning a wage while they gain an industry-recognised qualification and benefit from workplace training.
“Our strength is in providing students with all the skills they need to open doors to their dream careers. Now we want to build on that strength to take on our own apprentices and provide them with training and experience that will help them to go on into full employment.
“We can help lay the foundations for you to go on to bigger and better things and our vibrant college campus is a great place to work.”
