With the senior rugby sides not having matches this week, the BUCS seconds stepped up to grab the glory with a 49-19 home win over Cardiff Met second team in BUCS Premier South B.

The Under-18s seconds fought out a 19-19 draw with SGS Filton seconds in the AoC Premier League, while the thirds lost 29-7 at Coleg Sir Gar seconds.

The AASE girls made the most of a rare run-out to thump Bishop Burton College 69-15. You can read the full match report here.

On the recreational front, the Under-18s Acorns lost 29-24 at Newcastle-under-Lyme firsts in the AoC West Midlands Cat 2C League.

It was a great day for the elite first team footballers, with the BUCS side winning 2-1 at home to Bath firsts in BUCS Premier South with two goals from man of the match Ross Staley after the Under-18s had smashed SGS Stroud 7-0 in the ESFA Premier League, with Grant winning man of the match. The BUCS seconds lost 1-0 at Bournemouth firsts in BUCS Western 1A with Antony Deans taking the man of the match honours, while the Under-19s seconds beat Heart of Worcestershire firsts 2-1 in the ESFA Premier League (Cat 2) to go back up to second spot with goals from Losito and Sweeney. Man of the match was Ryan Davies.

In the netball, the junior seconds lost 55-44 to Birmingham Met seconds in the AoC West Midlands Cat 3B League.

Our footballers were out in force this week with some excellent results, while the golfers were in fine form again and the University first rugby team bounced back from last week’s shock result in style.

There were some mixed fortunes this week, with a shock result for Hartpury’s top rugby players, as well as some commendable performances including a massive victory for the women’s rugby stars and good efforts from two non-academy sporting teams on their first major outing of the season.

Team player Tass is in eleven heaven as Hartpury coach is named Sports Champion

Hartpury’s junior football manager Paul Tassell was named 2016’s Sports Champion at the Believe in Gloucester Awards last night after more than a decade of continued success at the college.
