There was an important group of fixtures this week at Hartpury, headed up with a top of the table clash in the BUCS Premier League South where Hartpury’s football first team travelled to Cardiff Met for an evening kick off under the floodlights.

Hartpury produced a strong performance as a 4-0 win took them six points clear at the top of table thanks to goals from Bundu, Grant, Wilson and a fortunate own goal.

Elsewhere, the BUCS second XI narrowly lost away to Bournemouth first XI in the BUCS Western 1A League, while the BUCS third team also suffered a narrow loss at the hands of Cardiff seconds, losing 1-0 in the BUCS Western 2B League. Unfortunately the BUCS fourth team rounded of a disappointing day for the elite development and development sides losing 5-1 to Winchester first XI in the BUCS Western 4A League.

It was an all-round successful day for the Under-19 teams in action, with both the second and fourth team’s winning. Dudley College first XI were beaten 2-0 by the second team in a ECFA WM Premier League Cat 2A clash, while the fourth team were runaway winners against Sollihull first XI beating their Midlands opponents 4-0 in the AoC WM Cat 3B League.

In the Rugby, the BUCS third XV travelled to play Gloucestershire first XV in the BUCS Western 1A League losing 8-13, while the Under-18 fourth team suffered the same fate as they went down 54-0 to a strong Bishop Wordsworth School first team. Hartpury’s Under-18 Acorns meanwhile battled to a 39-17 win against Bishop Wordsworth School second team.

Gloucester-Hartpury ladies first XV were also victorious over the weekend as they extended their unbeaten run to five games winning 47-15 away at Shelford Ladies RFC in the Women’s Championship Midlands 2. The bonus point keeps them within touching distance of leaders Lichfield.

The BUCS women’s first team also took the spoils in the BUCS Western 2B league with an emphatic win over UWE first XV, 66-0.

The Netball first team were also in action, taking on KE Stourbridge in the AoC Premier League. The girls had a comfortable afternoon winning 65-20.
