Hartpury set to make mark with second Sport Relief mile

Gloucester’s Sport Relief mile will be kicked off by some of the county’s best young athletes with this year’s event starting from Hartpury College.

Hundreds of local people will set off at 11am on Sunday, March 23rd from Hartpury College - just outside Gloucester - and run a mile around the campus to raise money for charity. Everyone is welcome to join us for the charity run.

The route begins at Gloucester Rugby’s training base, situated on the Hartpury campus, and will take runners up and around the college’s woodland and commercial farm before they cross the finish line in front of the rugby grandstand.

For those entering the event and looking to push themselves, three and six-mile options will also be available.

If you’re interested in taking part, you can enter now at www.sportrelief.com, get sponsored and help transform the lives of people living here in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries, while being part of an incredible nationwide event.

Hartpury’s David Price, who helps run Hartpury’s Sports Academy, said: “This is the second time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Hartpury College so let’s don the headband, get training and show the rest of the country what we can do. There will be plenty of activities on the day so don’t forget to rope in your mates, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues too!”

The college will be running further events on the rubber crumb throughout the day in order to raise as much money as possible for Sport Relief.
