Centre will open up a new world of opportunity for Hartpury students

Centre will open up a new world of opportunity for Hartpury students

Hartpury’s new state-of-the-art £3.5million College Learning Centre will have its official opening next week.

The college’s Further Education students are already reaping the benefits of the new facility, which has seen the student learning experience at Hartpury take another major step forward.

The new two-storey building, which has a stunning glass frontage and atrium, is dedicated to Hartpury’s college students. It provides a learning resource centre on the ground floor, including two IT rooms, book, magazine and journal resources and Wi-Fi throughout. The first floor features 15 classrooms and office space for teaching and support staff.

The funding for the new centre is part of the Skills Funding Agency’s £110million investment into FE college buildings and has enabled Hartpury to separate its existing Further Education and Higher Education provision.

It will be officially opened on Monday, March 6th by Mark Harper, Member of Parliament for the Forest of Dean and Government Minister for Disabled People, and Hartpury Principal Russell Marchant.

Hartpury’s Vice Principal Further Education, Luke Rake, said: “We’re exceptionally proud of the new centre and the opportunities it opens up for our college students. They were all excited about moving in this week and the feedback from staff and students has been very positive.

“Not only is it visually stunning, it’s the perfect environment for learning and will ensure that our facilities for college students continue to match the quality of the teaching and wider support they receive here.

“This investment shows our commitment to doing everything possible to help our students to achieve their potential, not only academically but in developing them as individuals who go on to lead successful lives.”

Work began on the new College Learning Centre in June 2013. Markey Construction was the main contractor on the project for Hartpury College, while CAD Associates provided all architectural services on the project.

The construction of this new centre also freed up space in an existing building that had previously been used by both Hartpury’s Further and Higher Education students. That space has now been expanded and upgraded to become a dedicated learning resource centre for degree and postgraduate students.
