Hartpury’s Hannah set for stateside journey

Hartpury’s Hannah set for stateside journey

Hartpury’s Hannah Stradling has become the first international women’s player to sign for the Lindenwood University Golf programme in the United States.

Stradling, 18, will link up with the NCAA Division Two side for the 2014-15 season while studying towards a degree in sports management at Lindenwood.

Hannah, along with fellow Hartpury students Gee Won Park and Harriet Matthews, clinched the women’s title in this year’s British Colleges Sport National Championships.

During her time at the college, Hannah was also the junior girls’ county captain and was a Ladies Club Champion in 2013. She was also the West of England Nett Champion last year.

Hartpury’s golf manager, Rich King, said: “Hannah has shown a lot of determination and put in so much hard work since she joined us to improve her physical fitness, her swing and her short game in particular.

“That has been rewarded with a national title, which is great to see, and for her to be the first international student picked to play golf at Lindenwood is another great honour for her and for Hartpury. We’ll be following her progress very closely.”

Stradling joins the likes of Ryan Pope, an Intercollegiate Tour Champion, and British Schools and College Tour team winner, Ryan Haskell, on the other side of the pond studying and playing golf for American universities
